I answered your question: There are lots and lots of white people who refuse to take the vaccine. In Redcar I strongly suspect there are a lot more white people than Asian People who are refusing to take the jab  yes

It hardly seems worth reporting except to the relatives but 10 deaths and 1,800 new cases.

There's more than one fundraising appeal, inviting those of us who've had 'free' vaccinations to help pay for the same in poorer parts of the world.

One in the news the last couple of days is the vicar and his wife whose 'Just Giving' page has taken off, passing the £100K milestone.   The money goes to Unicef's vaccine programme. It can be gift-aided too.

For anyone who wants to add to it, [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] .

Dr Richard Cree’s latest blog on situation of JCUH Covid wards. Improvement continues.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

“At the hospital, things continue to improve. Almost no COVID patients have been admitted over the past week and most of our COVID ICU patients are now recovering from their illness. The prevalence of COVID-19 within the local community continues to fall and, as a result, we have made a change to the COVID ‘pathway’ system at James Cook. The longstanding red, amber and green pathways have been replaced by two, simpler, red and blue pathways....

... The last few days have been much quieter than I have been used to. I haven’t seen a COVID patient in days and have been getting back to looking after ‘regular’ ICU patients. Even the really sick patients don’t compare to desperately ill COVID patients. I haven’t had to prone anybody, worry about hideously low oxygen saturations and relentlessly fiddle with ventilators for days. That’s not to say that we haven’t seen some very unwell patients, some of whom have not escaped tragedy but, for the time-being, it still feels surprisingly calm. We are all very much hoping it stays this way.”

And continuing the sort of good news 33 deaths today after the weekend numbers and 2,500 new cases which appears to have plateaued despite the release of lockdown.
Hospital admissions are down 20%, which is good news also.

Got this today:

“The more detail we uncover on PPE contracts awarded by the Government, the more serious the questions that arise,” say Good Law Project.

They’ve uncovered a new PPE contract, despite Boris Johnson declaring that all COVID contracts were “on the record” in February 2021.

Last summer, Pharmaceuticals Direct Limited was handed a £102.6 million contract without any competition. The company’s named representative was Samir Jassal, “a well-connected figure within the Conservative Party” having worked as an advisor under David Cameron and donated to the party.

Good Law Project have now launched legal proceedings “to protect public funds and... get answers.”

Can you help?

Gemma Abbott, Legal Director of Good Law Project, told the BBC: “It's of profound public importance that we discover who has benefited from the special arrangements put in place, who has benefited from the billions of public money spent, and at whose direction.”

Read more, including the Pre-Action Protocol Letter, here.

Thank you for your support,

No, they just want the government to keep the law and be accountable to the people. Dreamers, obviously.

It wasn't a matter of putting out tenders and cosy sorting of prices , it was a matter of life and death in a once in a life time occurrence.
We were desperate and everyone else was trying to get the same items as we were. We did what we had to do and most of us are still here to tell the tale.

Apart from 18 people today with 2,700 new cases.

Not a good day today 40 deaths and 2,700 new cases.

On the plus side less than 1900 people in hospital.

............ and the clamour for a slice of the contract cake made it far more difficult and less effective - which must have added to the death toll, much the same as the initial government reluctance to lock down. The Guardian, the Times etc (possibly not the Mail?) are reporting how 'the VIP Lane' - bids from unqualified mates of influential Tories - got priority over the serious stuff that might have provided proper PPE to the NHS and frontline services much more quickly, instead of leaving them so badly exposed to Coronavirus

Looking at India now and Italy then , was it any wonder that we grabbed anything and everything which was available to prevent scenes like that , and it worked. Hindsight is a wonderful thing without the immediacy and panic of the moment.
