ff uhoh uhoh Oh yes there is😉 wink . The road counts the pavement as well. FPT Obstruction of the pavement i.e. Two above cars are in a part of the road. On the footpath. Forget the dropped kerb, they are both straight forward obstructions. I am wondering if the Police have ticketed them both? The colour of the ticket is not a yellow plastic pouch?smile Wardens - I don't think that obstruction comes under their remit. Try and find out.

So, if the pavements are the road, cyclists can use them with impunity? thinking

And where did I mention obstruction? wagfinger

"Parking on the pavement is not illegal outside of London. You can, however, still get a fine for doing so in some instances, which makes the law quite a grey area.

Since 1974, Highway Code rule 244 has stated that drivers "MUST NOT park partially or wholly on the pavement in London and should not do so elsewhere unless signs permit it."

The key things to note here are the words must not and should not.

In London, you must not park on the pavement, the must indicating there is legislation behind this rule and you could receive a fine for breaking it.

However, outside of the capital or “elsewhere”, the Highway Code states drivers should not park on the pavement, meaning it is advisory and not, therefore, backed up by any legislation."

From the RAC....

If you obstruct the pavement by parking there it is called " causing an unnecessary obstruction of the highway " which I believe is an offence under the marvellously named Town Police Clauses Act which also stops you beating your mat under various circumstances.
Unless you can prove that your car was deposited in it's position on the pavement by crane you may well be prosecuted for driving other than on a road which is against the Road Traffic Act.
Happy days on Google !
The Highway Code is not a legal document but advice to motorists.

The Police Commissioner resigns but it would appear that the Chief Constable may also be involved !
Surely he wouldn't do anything wrong after all the hoo haa of the last few years. After all he speaks Welsh !

Without upsetting anyone, it’s always been rough up there, there seems to be a trend of setting wheelie bins on fire at the moment, iv seen burnt bins in alleys at the back of Coatham road and off thrush road

Your right Dozza there have been more bins burnt on the field this year. I had two of mine burnt last year and had to pay £48 for replacements, it's not young kids either. They seem tp be going for the elderly. I've got mine chained up now. Mind you they might start using bolt cutters before long. winkgrin

Cleveland Police pulled over a silver Audi A4 in Grangetown yesterday.
They found that it was Taxed, MOT'd and insured.
It wasn't stolen and no drugs or stolen goods were found in it.
The driver was sober, had a full licence and no points.
A Police spokesperson said, "We had no option but to fine him £80 for wasting Police time."

Don't think so , friends Redcar business was burgled along with others on same night.
Burglars  ( from M'bro  ) known to Police were identified on cctv and also left DNA at scene.
When Police raided their homes some of the stolen goods were found.
Overwhelming evidence.
When it went to court recently the main Police witness failed to turn up and the judge had no option but to acquit them!
No reasons have been given for his no show.

Conservatives now have the post of Crime Commissioner.
I don't think that anyone knows exactly what he does but it increases the Conservative presence on Teesside.

Do your last two posts suggest the Torys are having no effect on Law and Order. A bit like Job Creation.

The new PCC, voted in as a Conservative, has apparently been a bit of a Nomad regarding Council Politics, voted in as UKIP, then switched to an Independent and then Conservative. Lets hope he doesnt cross the Line this time.

Rats leaving a sinking ship comes to mind.
Being a fluent Welsh speaker obviously didn't help him .
I wonder which " duffer " is in the wings waiting to have a go.
Where they keep going wrong I think , is that they never appoint a " policeman " always someone with law degrees , ultra modern views on reorganisation or like the last one someone with a gimmick .
